Gavin can’t imagine a life without cycling. After being gifted his bicycle, he has seen a shift in his life, gaining a new job and a new fresh sense of well-being.
From not knowing where to turn, Gavin now has a job, a mode of transport that saves him R1000 a month on travel costs, and a fresh sense of inspiration. Gavin has said that his bike is his best friend, and it’s given him a brand new sense of independence and confidence.
Brad bought Gavin the bike from On Bike in Westlake. Thanks Brad for supporting Gavin and well done to Gavin, we are so proud!

OnBike BEC takes to the streets with a “Westlake Safe Cycling Awareness Ride”

We wrapped up the week on Saturday, 8th May with an On Bike “Westlake Safe Cycling Awareness Ride” in the Westlake community. The law is there to protect cyclists, but the cyclists need to adhere to road safety at all times.
Safe cycling relates to the combination of common sense, road rules and cycling knowledge to get you to and from your destination in a safe and efficient way!
Some points to remember…..
– Check your bike before you head off on your journey
– Wear a helmet
– Wear bright visible clothes
– Adhere to robots and road signs
The roads are there to share with fellow motorists and pedestrians. Be safe!

On Bike BEC launches bicycle Tour

On Bike Tours in Westlake launched their bicycle tour on Tuesday the 2 March 2021. This is a tour and opportunity not to be missed! It is a historic inaugural bike tour of Westlake where you get to enjoy the unique township from the comfort of our own saddle (bikes available too)! The community warmly welcomed us as we cruised through the streets visiting the local Enkosi Orphanage and Sangoma along the way. You will also get to ride through to the impressive Norval Foundation Art Museum, visit Steenberg Wine Farm with wine tasting, passing Pollsmoor Prison (where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned) as you pedal your way to Tokai Forest, ending at Eyethu Restaurant in Westlake for some unique African cuisine.

BEN building wheels for Qhubeka

BEN BEC’s (Bicycling Empowerment Centres) & staff actively building Qhubeka bicycle wheels, under the expertise of our Warehouse Manager and Mechanic, Solly Jones. We are excited to have been given this opportunity by Qhubeka Charity
